How long does SEO take to show results?
The effects of SEO can start to show within weeks, but lasting results usually take months. The timing depends on where your site starts, the competition and how consistently the work is done; nobody can give you an exact date.

The short answer
The effect of technical fixes usually becomes measurable within weeks, and the effect of content work within months. Google's own guide “Do you need an SEO?” also notes that in most cases it takes four months to a year to put improvements in place and see a potential benefit. On a new domain it can take longer; an offer that guarantees rankings or traffic is not realistic.

First weeks: crawling and indexing
The first job is making sure the search engine can crawl and index your site without trouble. The sitemap is submitted, blocked or duplicate pages are fixed, and titles and descriptions are reviewed. The effect of these fixes usually shows in Search Console within a few days to a few weeks: first the number of indexed pages and the impressions change, and clicks follow later.
- 03
First months: content
Content work starts with pages that answer the questions people actually ask. It takes time for a new page to be indexed, understood by the search engine and settled into its place. In most projects the first movement appears in longer, less competitive searches; short, competitive searches such as “SEO agency” usually move later.

What sets the pace
The main factors are the age and history of the domain, the competition in the target searches, the site's technical condition, the quality and regularity of the content, links earned naturally from other sites, and how quickly changes are put into place. On a site with some history but technical problems, fixes can have a quick effect; a brand-new site first needs to build up trust and history.

A realistic timeline
Depending on scope and competition, a typical course looks like this: in the first month, a technical audit, fixes and measurement set-up; in months two and three, growth in indexed pages and impressions and the first content going live; in the months after that, more clicks from longer searches and slow movement on competitive ones. This is an estimate, not a commitment, which is why our SEO packages plan for at least six months of work.

How to measure progress
Looking only at rankings is misleading. In Search Console, follow impressions, clicks, click-through rate and the number of indexed pages; in analytics, check whether visits from search end in a form, a call or an order. A monthly report should state what was done, what was measured and what comes next. Changing the structure every week makes it impossible to tell which piece of work had an effect.

Warning signs, and SEO at Doki
Be wary of offers that promise you will be at the top of Google in a few weeks, guarantee rankings, or will not explain where links will come from; rankings gained through shortcuts can fall foul of search engine rules. In our SEO packages, the technical, content and measurement strands run on a single roadmap, and each month the work done and the results measured are reported openly. We do not guarantee rankings or traffic; we show what was done and why.
