Quality assurance
QA · The full set of test planning, testing and process improvement work to verify that software meets requirements and works without defects.
- 01
Why it matters
Every bug a user finds means both a fix cost and lost trust. Quality assurance verifies the software's behaviour before release with manual and automated tests, on different devices and browsers, including unusual scenarios. Quality should be addressed at every stage, not only the last.
- 02
Example
Before launch, a shop's new checkout page is tested with different cards, insufficient balance, a dropped connection and back-button scenarios. A bug where the back button creates the order twice is fixed before going live.
- 03
Common mistake
Testing only the happy path, where everything goes right. Most bugs appear with unexpected inputs and interrupted operations.
