Featured snippet
The box in which Google shows, at the top of the results with a source link, a short text, list or table taken from a page as the answer to a question.
- 01
Why it matters
A featured snippet can move your page to the most visible spot in the results and present your brand as the owner of the answer. Content that answers the question clearly in its first sentence and then gives detail is chosen more often. Google decides which page is used; there is no guarantee.
- 02
Example
A guide answering “how to transfer a domain” lists the steps as a numbered list, Google shows the list above the results and clicks on the guide increase.
- 03
Common mistake
Hiding the answer under a long introduction. If the question is not answered directly and briefly, Google takes the answer from another page.
