AI agent
An AI system that plans the steps towards a goal by itself and carries out the work using tools such as search, e-mail, calendars or databases.
- 01
Why it matters
Agents can automate multi-step work, but their ability to act on systems brings new risks. Their permissions should be kept to the minimum needed, important actions such as payments, deletions or sending things outside should require human approval and every step they take should be logged.
- 02
Example
An agency has an AI agent prepare its weekly advertising report: the agent pulls the data, compares it with the previous week and writes a summary. Sending the report to the client happens only after an employee approves it.
- 03
Common mistake
Giving the agent full access to e-mail, payments and admin panels. A misunderstood instruction, or a malicious instruction in content it reads, can lead to harmful actions.
