Why it matters
Attacks do not stay on one device: they start with a phishing e-mail, take over an account and reach cloud data from there. Where each tool raises separate alerts on separate screens, that chain stays invisible. XDR correlates the signals, shows the incident as one story from start to finish and speeds up response.

Example
A malicious attachment sent to an employee starts a suspicious process on their laptop, and the same account downloads files in bulk from cloud storage. XDR merges the three events into one case; the e-mail is removed, the device isolated and the account's sessions revoked.

Common mistake
Treating XDR as a label that solves everything with one product. If it is unclear which data sources are actually connected and who follows the alerts, protection stays limited whatever it is called.
