Privacy notice
The notice that tells people, when their personal data is collected, who processes it, for what purpose and on what legal basis, to whom it is transferred and what their rights are.
- 01
Why it matters
KVKK and the GDPR require people to be informed at the moment their data is collected; the duty to inform is separate from consent and must be met in every case. A good notice is short, clear and describes the processing that really happens. Linking it next to forms is the most common method.
- 02
Example
Just above the “Send” button of a contact form there is a link to a notice explaining that the form data will be used only to answer the request, kept for two years and shared with which service providers.
- 03
Common mistake
Tying the privacy notice to a checkbox and making people tick “I have read and accept”. The notice is information; it is not accepted like consent and must not be confused with it.
