Orphan page
A page that receives no links from any other page on the site and can only be reached by someone who knows its address or comes from the sitemap.

Why it matters
Orphan pages are almost never found by visitors, and search engines consider them less important. They are often old campaign pages, content removed from the menu or new pages someone forgot to link. A regular crawl brings them to light.
- 02
Example
A site crawl shows that six published guides receive no links from any page. Once they are linked from the knowledge hub and the related service pages, they become visible in search within a few weeks.

Common mistake
Thinking the problem is solved by adding the orphan page to the sitemap. The sitemap helps discovery but does not show the page's importance within the site; it needs links from content.
