Lookalike audience
An audience the ad platform builds by finding new people who resemble your existing customers or site visitors.

Why it matters
Lookalike audiences are an effective way to reach people who do not know you yet but resemble your customers. The quality of the source decides the result: an audience built from real, valuable customers works better than one built from visitors. Platforms' automated targeting increasingly takes over this role itself.
- 02
Example
A shop builds a source audience from customers who bought at least twice in the past year. Ads shown to people resembling this audience achieve a lower customer acquisition cost than broad interest targeting.
- 03
Common mistake
Keeping the source audience too small or mixed. A source of a few dozen people, or of all visitors, makes it hard for the platform to find a meaningful resemblance.
