Agile development
A project management approach in which software is developed in short cycles, delivering a working piece in each cycle and changing direction based on feedback.
- 01
Why it matters
It is rare for all requirements to be fully known at the start; the agile approach reduces the risk of moving in the wrong direction for months by showing the client results early and often. Its success depends on the client giving regular feedback and priorities being set clearly.
- 02
Example
A customer panel project progresses in two-week cycles. At the end of each cycle the client tries the working screens; in the third cycle the reporting screen's priority is raised and the plan is updated accordingly.
- 03
Common mistake
Treating agility as having no plan or an unlimited right to changes. If scope, budget and priorities are not managed, the project never ends.
