Thin content
Pages that add no original or meaningful value for users: content that is automatically generated, copied, very short or created only for search traffic.
- 01
Why it matters
Google can treat a large amount of unhelpful content across a site as a negative signal, which can also affect the visibility of good pages. The issue is not page length but whether the page really answers a question. Worthless pages should be merged, improved or removed.
- 02
Example
A site has generated hundreds of service pages that differ only in the district name. Once they are merged and a few strong pages with real information for each city remain, the site's overall visibility improves.
- 03
Common mistake
Adding meaningless paragraphs to make content longer. Usefulness matters, not length; a short page that gives a clear answer is worth more than padded empty text.
