Knowledge hub · E-commerce launch guide
Launching a store is more than uploading a catalogue: payment, shipping, return terms and measurement must be ready together.
- 01
Catalogue
Decide the standard for product names, variants, stock and photos up front; fixing it later is the costliest work. Two records for one product mislead both stock and search.
- 02
Payment and shipping
The payment provider's contract, fees and refund flow must be settled before launch, and the shipping rule must be visible in the basket. A surprise delivery fee is one of the most common reasons for abandoned carts.
- 03
Legal texts
Distance selling, return and privacy texts must be written for your company and country; copying a template is risky. Have them reviewed by a lawyer before launch.
- 04
Launch checklist
Place a test order, walk through a return once, verify stock decrements and check that order e-mails arrive. Set up measurement before launch; the first days' data cannot be recovered.
- 05
Stock and returns
Keep the stock number in one place; when the shop and the warehouse live in separate spreadsheets, a sold item gets sold again. Write the returns flow on day one: within what period, on what condition, and who issues the refund. Shops with a vague returns step lose most of their support time there.
- 06
How to write a product page
Hundreds of shops paste the manufacturer's description exactly as it came; when the same text is everywhere, none of them stands out. Write the dimensions, material, box contents, warranty and delivery time in your own words. Add real photographs, and say what the product is not for: that sentence lowers returns more than any other.
- 07
What to watch in the first month
In the first month, watch where the flow breaks rather than the visitor count: carts that never reach checkout, errors returned at the payment step, and visitors who leave when the shipping cost appears. Note the questions that come in by phone too; if the same one arrives three times, its answer belongs on the product page.
