Threat intelligence
Information collected about attackers, their methods, infrastructure and active campaigns, interpreted to guide defence decisions.
- 01
Why it matters
Knowing which attacks target your sector lets you prioritise defence by real risk rather than generic advice. Blocking known malicious addresses, putting actively exploited flaws first and warning staff about current fraud scenarios are direct uses of intelligence.
- 02
Example
An intelligence bulletin announces a new campaign that targets online shops and injects fake forms into checkout pages. The company blocks the addresses listed in the bulletin and reviews the scripts on its own checkout page to confirm it is clean.
- 03
Common mistake
Loading thousands of lines of raw indicators into systems without context. Uninterpreted, outdated data causes false alarms; intelligence only has value when it is applied to your environment.
