Agency suggested a landing page, how does it differ from a regular site and is it really necessary for ad campaigns?

We manufacture industrial kitchen equipment and stainless steel prep tables in Bursa. Our products aren't geared toward end consumers but rather businesses opening hotels cafes and restaurants. We started search engine ads last month with an ad budget of around 30,000 TL per month.

The agency managing our ads told us that sending ad clicks straight to our homepage is wasting our budget. btw they said we need a custom landing page design and asked for an additional design and development fee. However our corporate site already clearly showcases all our products technical drawings, references and a quote request form.

What exactly is the difference between a regular webpage and a landing page? Does building a separate page just for ads truly affect conversions that much or is it just an unnecessary agency cash grab?

Short answer: A landing page is a standalone webpage stripped of all distracting external navigation menus and links, designed to steer the visitor toward a single, specific action. While standard corporate sites aim to introduce the company and let visitors browse around freely, a landing page focuses strictly on a commercial offer to generate quick quotes or orders. It plays a critical role in converting your ad spend directly into tangible leads.

Here are the main reasons why you shouldn't send ad traffic straight to your homepage and should use a dedicated page instead: 1) Eliminating Distractions: Your homepage has "about us", company vision, news, and dozens of category links; users click these and leave the site without ever filling out the quote form, which is your real objective. A landing page doesn't even have a top navigation menu. 2) Direct Alignment with Search Intent: If a restaurant owner looking for an industrial pizza oven lands on a general website, they might leave before finding what they need. A dedicated landing page immediately showcases that specific oven, its technical advantages, delivery timeframes, and a quote form right below. 3) Trust and Proof Blocks: The page flow is structured around purchasing psychology: a clear value proposition at the top, completed restaurant case studies below it, and finally a single-step contact form.

To keep your budget from going to waste, investing in clean, simple pages focused on a few of your most profitable product lines across your ad groups is a smart move.

In high-ticket B2B industries like commercial kitchen equipment, running ads straight to your homepage is just burning cash. Someone about to open a cafe is in a hurry; when they land on the page, they want to see the counter they need, the build quality, and a direct phone number to call within a few seconds. They'll just get lost in the navigation clutter of a corporate site.

We tried this at our own sheet metal shop. When we were sending ads to the homepage, a 30,000 TL monthly budget was only getting us 4 quote forms. We built a single-page, menu-free landing page focused entirely on social proof and a form; without raising the budget, the same ads started pulling in 19 forms a month. The cost of having the page built paid for itself in the first week.

The agency's recommendation is right, but you don't need to pay an arm and a leg to build one from scratch. If your current website is on a modern stack setting up a single sub-template with the navigation hidden and embedding a form takes a couple of hours tops in your existing theme. Don't let them bill you like it's an entirely new software build.

The technical key here is load speed and conversion tracking codes. A landing page doesn't have unnecessary plugins, massive image carousels, or heavy code blocks. It loads instantly. Plus, once you link the on-page form submissions to your ad platform as conversion goals, the ad algorithm learns much faster who's actually most likely to submit an inquiry.

Don't get them made for every single product line. Pick your top two most profitable or high-demand categories—like stainless prep tables and refrigeration units. Launch two clean pages just for those and direct your ads there, then monitor the results for a month.

We thought the agency was just trying to squeeze extra work out of us when we first heard it too... But honestly users really hate browsing around sites... Once theyre faced with a ready-to-go form and a clear direct number, they just reach out... Definitely worth it.

Three years ago, when selling hotel textiles, we were directing our ads straight to our homepage. Clicks were rolling in, budget was getting spent, but the phone never rang. Then we had a single dedicated page built for a hotel bedsheet bundle with a massive quote button. The orders coming in on day one completely shattered my skepticism.

ad visitors couldn't care less about homepage sliders and cmopany history then anyway all they want is a quick price. imo a landing page is a must just don't get ripped off by the agency, a simple page is plenty.

Three different views emerged they all complement each other... btw map listings bring more business than blog posts for most local businesses.

Just leaving this note it might be useful.

I read the thread; most participants are looking at this from the right angle. Just a reminder: what's described here is general information. Don't make decisions without a scoped assessment for your own system.

You're right. Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix.

Everything goes well for the first three months; problems arise in the fourth. Just leaving this note, it might be useful.

This is exactly what we experienced. A page that answers one question works better than one touching on five topics.

Hope this helps.

You're right. Speed is a threshold issue; if you're already fast, making it faster changes nothing.

Timely topic. When we decide without measuring, we always end up in the same place.

People defend habits, not processes. Resistance comes from there. This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.
