People are selling "SEO articles" — what are they exactly, and do they actually drive traffic to our site?

We are a small-scale manufacturer in Bursa producing industrial packaging and cardboard boxes. We revamped our corporate website six months ago, but we get almost zero new inbound inquiries from Google. Last week I talked to a freelancer who pitched a monthly package of 50 SEO articles for 7,500 TL total. He claims that once we publish these on our site, we'll hit page one for industry searches within 2-3 months.

Since we've never set aside a budget for content before, this whole concept is pretty foreign to me. Looking around online, everyone says something different; some treat it like a magic bullet, while others say it's complete garbage content. What does it actually mean for a piece of writing to be an "SEO article," and do packages like this really bring in the promised traffic, or would we just be throwing money down the drain?

Short answer: An SEO article is web content structured with a deliberate heading and informational hierarchy to directly answer specific questions and technical needs users search for on Google. Simply sprinkling keywords throughout a text isn't enough to qualify; it must completely satisfy search intent and leave the visitor informed.

Cheap packages offering 50 bulk articles are almost always low-quality filler, either spat out by AI tools or scraped and spun from other sites. Producing a genuinely useful article in a technical field like industrial packaging for roughly 150 TL a pop is simply impossible. When you publish this kind of text, Google either won't index it at all or will classify it as thin content, hurting your site's overall credibility.

If you want traffic, the way to go isn't buying bulk articles; it's addressing your target audience's actual problems. Find out what box dimensions, burst strength ratings, or export packaging specifications prospective clients in your niche are searching for. Instead of publishing 50 mediocre posts a month, have someone who truly understands your sector write 3-4 comprehensive guides packed with insights straight from your shop floor.

There is no way someone writing articles for 150 lira each knows anything about box compression strength or corrugated flute grades. They'll probably just prompt a bot and send you the output in three minutes. You'll turn your site into a useless junk drawer of text with the added risk of getting penalized by search engines. Don't touch it.

Last year, caught up in the same hype, we bought a 30-article package for our auto spare parts site and paid 4,500 TL. Believe me, when I looked at the metrics three months later, only 1 out of the 30 articles was getting 4 unique visitors a month, the rest got flat zeros. We would've made way more business spending that money on professional product photography.

Before ordering any content, make sure these three things are clear: 1) Does the writer identify keywords with actual search volume and analyze competitors? 2) Is there a proper heading hierarchy and internal linking strategy included? 3) Does the resulting text have enough technical depth to resolve an actual industry problem? If not, it's not an SEO article.

bulk article packages died five years ago folks. honestly google looks at search intent now. if the person reading bounces after two seconds that post is straight up garbage in the search engines eyes.

How did this freelancer pick these 50 topics did they give you a keyword map? Also who's uploading these articles to the site and sourcing the graphics? Usually they just dump the text on you and walk away, leaving all the page building to you.

edit: fixed a few typos.

Before you pay anyone a single dime, just listen to your incoming phone calls. What are your customers asking you the most? Is it "what is a box burst test" or "how to choose export packaging"? Jot those questions down, write two pages of honest answers, and put them up on your WordPress site. Trust me, that will bring in ten times more leads than any pre-made content package.

I just started a blog too and Im pretty new to all this. Is search intent basically just whatever the customer types into the Google search bar? Like, is it enough to just use the customers question directly as the title or are there other rules to it?

In Bursa's industrial sector business runs on face-to-face trust, but the web side of things can't be ignored anymore either. Still, you're not going to convince anyone with those cookie-cutter article packages. btw if a plant manager lands on your site and sees some fluffy piece that reeks of AI they'll start questioning how professional your entire company is.

I'm writing this so you don't make the same mistake. Everyone rushing into what is an seo article gets stuck at the same point.

The harder it is to reverse a decision, the slower you should make it. This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

Let me share my experience. Mistakes made on the what is an seo article side are usually reversible but expensive.

I completely agree. When we decide without measuring, we always end up in the same place.

Proven by experience.

Let me summarize what's been said so far. Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix.

I agree and Id like to emphasize that. When making decisions write down the worst-case scenario too not just the best.

I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

The answer above hits the nail on the head. Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate.
