We run a small dry cleaning and tailor shop in Saint Petersburg. anyway most of our clients are locals from the neighborhood, but I wanted to get us onto Google Maps so passersby can find us easily too. Since I dont keep a computer at the shop, I submitted the entire application right from my phone.

I filled in everything: business name, storefront signage full address, and opening hours. I mean its been about three weeks since I applied, but the dashboard still says "Verification in progress." No postcard with a code ever arrived and I never received a verification SMS on my phone either.

Our shop doesn't show up on the map at all. I mean should I cancel the submission and try again or did I miss something because I did it on mobile? How can I speed this process up?

Short answer: Your listing has been stuck for weeks because the system flagged the mobile submission as having insufficient location accuracy and proof of a physical presence. Do not delete your current listing and start over; log in to your business profile from a desktop browser and complete the verification manually via video recording or document upload.

Mapping services have recently started requiring business video verification instead of postcards for physical storefronts. When you do a quick listing via phone and the system fails to prompt the video upload screen properly, the profile gets routed into a manual review queue where it can sit forgotten for weeks. Also if Russian address formats (building, block corps) don't match official registries character-for-character the whole pipeline stalls.

To resolve this take these steps: 1) Log in to your map dashboard from a desktop browser; 2) Make sure the address field matches official postal standards and storefront signage verbatim; 3) If a video verification option is visible upload an unedited, continuous 1–2 minute clip showing the street sign, the exterior facade and your checkout counter. If that option doesn't appear, submit a support form attaching your commercial lease and tax registration certificate to request manual verification.

Don't go opening a fresh listing right away. If you create a second profile at the exact same address, you'll trigger a duplicate business flag and get permanently suspended. Go into your existing profile, check the verification tab, and push for the video verification route.

When adding a business on mobile, if the GPS pin isn't dead center on the building, the security filters flag it. In similar cases, just opening the desktop dashboard and manually nudging the pin right onto the roofline with pinpoint accuracy was enough to trigger the stalled review and get it approved.

When we launched our car wash in Kazan, we applied via mobile and sat through 24 days of absolute silence. We merged our official business registration certificate and an exterior sign photo into a single file and submitted it through the support ticket form—our shop went live on the map 48 hours later.

when u submit through the mobile app it usually skips the official doc upload step. hop on a desktop browser and check the business profile dashboard, theres definitely a step waiting on u there.

Honestly, waiting around for a postcard code is pretty much a thing of the past. Local postal routes have terrible delivery rates for international verification mailers. Don't waste your time waiting for a postcard; focus strictly on digital verification options.

Edit: asked below, I wrote the answer in the second message.

Don't stress, this happens to everyone. Go ahead and upload a crisp photo of your shop sign and the hours sticker on your front door right to your business photos. When the algorithm sees real-life photos like that, it boosts your trust score and can move your listing up the queue.

To kickstart the listing, run through this checklist: 1) Make sure the map pin sits squarely over your front entrance; 2) Confirm your phone number matches what's listed on your website or social media pages; 3) Upload interior photos and shots behind the counter so the system recognizes the location as active.

we added ours last week and we're stuck in the exact same spot. tbh when doing video verification do you start filming from inside the shop or do you have to walk in from out on the street? really don't want to mess up the recording and get rejected.

I went through the same thing two years ago. Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix.

Everyone rushing into adding a business to google maps gets stuck at the same point.

We need to make a distinction here. When making decisions, write down the worst-case scenario too, not just the best.

If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong. Of course, it varies if your situation is different.

We experienced almost the exact same thing last year. When making a decision, first look at what data you have on hand.

Ranking is the result search intent is the input. Look at intent first. That's all, sorry if I went on too long.

I think differently. Discussing numbers without verifying the measurement setup is a waste of time.

If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

If you're going this route, sort this out first. The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.

If you post the result here, it will help others too.

Sorry, but this doesn't apply in every case. The real issue isn't the number, but what it's based on.

If you don't write this down from the start, it leads to arguments later. This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

How did you solve this? Ranking is the result, search intent is the input. Look at intent first.

If I were you, I'd go this route.

Let me write how it's done in practice. When making decisions, write down the worst-case scenario too, not just the best.

Updating an existing page yields faster results than creating a new one.

Let me share my experience. People defend habits, not processes. Resistance comes from there.

It's rare to find an explanation this clear. Any comment made without a control group is just a guess.

That's all, sorry if I went on too long.
