I have my first meeting with an investor, any tips on the pitch?

I've scheduled my first meeting with an angel investor. No corporate experience, but we have a product, customers, and good growth rate. I'll show the investor a polished pitch deck, but what should I say? What might they ask?

I'll cover these in the pitch: problem, solution, market size, business model, traction, team, budget. But the issue is: how do I match the investor's pace? If I talk tech, they might not get it; if I'm too simple, they might think 'this kid doesn't know anything'.

Key points in the pitch: 1- Problem (customer's real pain), 2- Solution (how you solve it), 3- Traction (current customers, revenue), 4- Growth (market size, how you'll scale), 5- Team (experience). Talk business, not tech. Investors invest in money, not tech, not misery.

Most important: traction. Customer count, past month revenue, churn rate. When investors see this, they think 'this business has legs'. Pitch deck should be 10-15 slides, 30 seconds per slide. If you're smiling during rehearsal, you're on the right track.

bro i talked to an investor too, pitched them. what bugged him the most: i gave a huge market size. i said '1 billion dollar market globally' and he laughed. give more realistic numbers... second: show traction. like custoer count revenue.

Pitch structure: Problem (30 sec), Solution (30 sec), Market Size (20 sec), Traction (60 sec), Business Model (30 sec), Team (30 sec), Funding Ask (20 sec). Total 3 minutes. After that, Q&A. When questions start, it means the investor is interested, things are going well.

Things to avoid in a pitch: 1- talking too technical, 2- inflating market size (don't start with 1 billion), 3- minimizing the team (say who you are), 4- hiding the budget (be transparent), 5- not rehearsing (practice at least 5 times). Avoid all of these and success increases

edit: I wrote something wrong above, sorry about that.

Angel investors usually look at: team, traction, and market size. What is your traction? How many customers? What's the monthly revenue? State these clearly, then the investor decides.

bro that's a solid step! meeting with an investor means your product is serious. pitch it, if it goes well angels decide fast. good luck!

Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. Are you looking for a partner or a co-founder? I mean they are two different things.

When making a decision, first look at what data you have on hand.

I'm in the same situation, that's why I'm asking. Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix.

This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

Could you elaborate on that? Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently.

How did you solve this? Everything goes well for the first three months; problems arise in the fourth.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Could you elaborate on that? Start with a small trial; don't commit to everything at once.

Don't hesitate to ask; those who don't ask always pay more. If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

I think it's hard to be that definitive about investor meeting. If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.

Of course, it varies if your situation is different.

The discussion got scattered, let me summarize. If you don't write this down from the start, it leads to arguments later.

Everyone rushing into investor meeting gets stuck at the same point. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a question. If it's your first time, start small; scaling comes later.

We experienced almost the exact same thing last year. The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.

This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.
