I'm writing title tags. The platform I use says 'optimal 50-60 characters'. But some sites write 70+ and still rank. What's the standard?
What do we do if the beginning and end of the title get cut off on Google?

Title tag length displays differently on mobile/desktop. Mobile: 50-60 chars (avg), desktop: 55-65 chars. But there's no algorithmic limit from Google — no difference in ranking.
Optimal: 55 chars (safe). If long titles are truncated (with …), it means shifting prefixes/suffixes to pull them in doesn't work. Best practice: keep under 55, don't put qualifiers at the end.
My 60-char titles were getting cut off on desktop too. like dropped them under 50 all comments showed up. CTR seems to have increased a bit.
Title Tag Optimization: - Optimal: 50-60 chars - Max: 70 chars (risk of truncation) - Keyword: at the start - Brand name: at the end (optional) - Duplicate: remove - Ranking: length doesn't affect it - UX: display matters
Title structure: '[Keyword] — [Qualifier] | [Brand]'. Example: 'Python Course — Beginner | TechLearn' (50 chars).
Thanks for writing this, that's the right way. Just because everyone does it doesn't mean it's right.
Speed is a threshold issue; if you're already fast, making it faster changes nothing. This is my opinion I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.
Let me share my experience. Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix.
I'd appreciate it if you shared the outcome. If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.
That's all, sorry if I went on too long.
the cheap-looking path usually ends up costing more later but when you try to change everything at once nothing settles.
this is my opinion, Im not claiming its absolute truth.
I'm curious too. Ranking is the result, search intent is the input. Look at intent first.
This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.
There are three things to check when doing this. Any comment made without a control group is just a guess.
Of course, it varies if your situation is different.
Following. The harder it is to reverse a decision, the slower you should make it.
Just leaving this note it might be useful.

Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. Mistakes made on the title tag length side are usually reversible but expensive.
Good luck with that.
Let me share what happened to me; it might be useful. Start with a small trial; don't commit to everything at once.
I was thinking the same thing. Hasty decisions become decisions you have to fix six months later.
That's all, sorry if I went on too long.
I'm in the same situation, that's why I'm asking. If rankings stay the same but clicks drop, the issue isn't your page, but the search result appearance.
This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.
Quick summary for newcomers: A page that answers one question works better than one touching on five topics.
If you post the result here, it will help others too.
