I get 50 registrations a year at my driving school, neighboring schools have hit 200 — how are they competing, what would you do?

i run a driving school in the city center. 15 years, old system: people come in, say 'driving school', we register them. 50-60 registrations a year, course ends, done. But 2 years ago 5 new schools opened in different parts of the city and the nearest one has registered 200 people.

You know what my closest competitor is doing? Online lessons, social media videos, giving students "gifts" (tea, t-shirts), online exams... I'm still stuck in the same old way: come in, register, read the book, take the test. That's it. But I can't keep up with this era and I'm asking myself: why does a driving school have to be online? And how am I supposed to compete?

If customer satisfaction is the priority, you can find customers willing to pay a bit more. But it takes patience.

Business perspective: If demand > capacity, we can do two things: 1) Raise prices. 2) Increase capacity.

Regulatory requirement: your business needs to have these and those permits. Ask your accountant.

Data analysis: As demand increases, capacity usually drops by 30-50%. That's your situation. You need to increase capacity.

I'm a small business, let me explain from my side. When making decisions, write down the worst-case scenario too, not just the best.

You're right, I've been down that road too. Don't enter any agreement without an exit plan.

Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently. I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

We got stuck at the same point for a while. Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate.

I agree. Everyone rushing into driving school marketing gets stuck at the same point.

This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

Saved. Look where the bucket leaks; pouring water on top doesn't solve it.

Finding a new customer is more expensive than keeping an existing one. Proven by experience.
