Should we add a search box to the website? Is it beneficial or harmful for SEO?
A search box is not harmful to SEO, it's actually beneficial. It improves customer experience and increases time on site. Mark it up with Schema markup — Google will understand the search query and results.

Youre right Ive been down that road too. When making a decision, first look at what data you have on hand.
Dont hesitate to ask; those who dont ask always pay more. honestly if you post the result here, it will help others too.

The most overlooked point about site search box is this: Solutions that work at a small scale collapse when you grow; I learned this late.
The real issue isn't the number, but what it's based on. Good luck with that.
Three different views emerged they all complement each other. I mean everything goes well for the first three months; problems arise in the fourth.
Proven by experience.

We've heard this a lot, but it never happened like that for us. The answer varies greatly by industry; there is no one-size-fits-all rule.
When making decisions write down the worst-case scenario too not just the best. I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

The cheap-looking path usually ends up costing more later. Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently.
If you post the result here, it will help others too.
My questions are cleared up, thanks. Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix.

Youre right. Dont trust anyone who gives guarantees; there are no guarantees in this business.
If you have questions write them; I'll answer as best I can.
Same here. Solutions that work at a small scale collapse when you grow; I learned this late.
A page that answers one question works better than one touching on five topics. Proven by experience.

I have a question, don't want to go off-topic though. The answer varies greatly by industry; there is no one-size-fits-all rule.

Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. Everything goes well for the first three months; problems arise in the fourth.
Of course, it varies if your situation is different.
Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. Discussing numbers without verifying the measurement setup is a waste of time.
Looking at it as a process, the picture changes. Ranking is the result, search intent is the input. Look at intent first.
The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say. This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

We got stuck at the same point for a while. Ranking is the result, search intent is the input. Look at intent first.
Good luck with that.
