i don't know anything about law but i have employees and i sell products — what are the risks? is insurance a waste of money or is it actually necessary?
Should I get insurance, what risks are there (product recall, worker injury, engineering error)?

basic types of insurance: 1) workers' comp (if employees get injured), 2) product liability (defect in product > customer harm), 3) professional liability (engineering error > project cancellation), 4) general liability (general operational risks).
what you need: if you sell products, 'product insurance', if you have employees, 'workplace accident insurance'. consulting + goods: 'general liability'.
cost: product liability premium is 1-3% (annual), workplace accident insurance is mandatory (by law). insurance covers legal costs in case of wrong product / accident (can be expensive).

we didn't have insuurance at the start and when a customer sued due to a product defect, legal costs hit millions and btw then we got insured and the 2nd lawsuit was covered.
insurance seems like a waste of money but it saves your ass when something goes wrong. workplace accident insurance is mandatory anyway, get product insrance too.
just a heads-up. everything goes well for the first three months; problems arie in the fourth.
everyone rushing into insurance and risk gets stuck at the same point.
sorry, but this doesnt apply in every case. i mean evrything goes well for the first three months; problems arise in the fourth.
I agree. If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.
Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix. Good luck with that.
Could you elaborate on that? When making a decision, first look at what data you have on hand.
If you post the result here, it will help others too.
I think it's hard to be that definitive about insurance and risk. Hasty decisions become decisions you have to fix six months later.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Let's separate the concepts they're getting mixed up. If you don't write this down from the start, it leads to arguments later.
Of course, it varies if your situation is different.

I'm a small business, let me explain from my side. People defend habits, not processes. Resistance comes from there.
If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong. Just leaving this note it might be useful.
I have a question, don't want to go off-topic though. Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate.
If I were you, I'd go this route.

To get into the details: Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently.
Good luck with that.

I agree with this. A small market isn't bad; working cheaply in a small market is.
If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.
I went through the same thing two years ago. Solutions that work at a small scale collapse when you grow; I learned this late.
If I were you, I'd go this route.
my perspective changed after experiencing that. when making a decision, first look at what data you have on hand.
of course it varies if your situation is different.

the discussion got scattered, let me summarize but most time waste accumulates in tasks waiting for approval.
hasty decisions become decisions you have to fix six months later and honestly proven by experience.

You're right, I've been down that road too. People defend habits not processes. Resistance comes from there.
