User damaged equipment at my music studio and demanded a refund — how should the refund clause be written in the rental terms?

i opened a music studio, 8 years ago. i do hourly rentals, 100 TL/hour. a customer came, used studio equipment (mic, cables) then trashed it. customer said 'i didn't break it' but the equipment is damaged. i claimed 2000 TL for damages, customer hired a lawyer.

Business view: If demand > capacity we can do two things: 1) Raise prices. 2) Increase capacity.

Start with this structure: make the customer understand 'this is how i'll do it', then do it. Good luck.

These questions are always the same: decide, do it, and either succeed or fail.

Legally required: your business needs to have this and that permit. Ask your accountant.

Data analysis: As demand increases, capacity often drops by 30-50%. That's your situation. You need to increase capacity.

I've been dealing with this for a long time. People defend habits, not processes. Resistance comes from there.

Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate. If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

Exactly like that. When making decisions, write down the worst-case scenario too, not just the best.

The real issue isn't the number, but what it's based on. I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

Yes, that's exactly how it is with music studio equipment. Pausing growth to breathe is also a strategy, nobody says that.

This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. The first thing to break as you grow is communication, not the numbers.

I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

To get into the details: Just because everyone does it doesn't mean it's right.

Good luck with that.

I went through the same thing two years ago. Most time waste accumulates in tasks waiting for approval.

That's all, sorry if I went on too long.

There's one point I'm curious about. Extending terms makes customers happy but turns you into a financing institution.

The cheap-looking path usually ends up costing more later. Extending terms makes customers happy but turns you into a financing institution.

If the gap between accounts receivable and accounts payable turnover days is widening revenue won't save you. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think differently. If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.

Hope this helps.
