I have 50k TL worth of stock in my stationery shop but sales are low — how do I make the empty shelves profitable?

i opened a stationery shop 2 years ago. i messed up in the first 6 months: i stocked up on everything—notebooks, pens, folders, you name it—and took out a 50k TL loan. sales aren't great, like 8-10k TL a month. this inventory is basically my entire net worth for two years. how do i get out of this mess?

2 months ago a new stationery shop opened next door, they also do online shipping. i lost half my customers. i tried going online too but the website cost like 3500 TL, plus 10 TL shipping per order. how can i compete? also, what do i do with my stock?

Regulatory requirement: your business needs to have these specific permits. ask your accountant.

if customer satisfaction is your priority, you can find customers willing to pay a bit more. but it takes patience.

Professional advice: do some process planning. Define the duration for each stage and tell the customer. Good luck.

Statistics: if you hire staff, costs go up 40%, but output can increase by 60%. Net: +20%.

These questions are always the same: make a decision execute, and either succeed or fail.

I agree, and I'd like to emphasize that. The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.

If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This is exactly what we experienced. Calculate how many months you can survive without revenue, then halve that number.

The real issue isn't the number, but what it's based on.

correct. hasty decisions become decisions you have to fix six months later.

finding a new customer is more expensive than keeping an existing one. like this is my opinion Im not claiming its absolute truth.

I was thinking the same thing. A small market isn't bad; working cheaply in a small market is.

Just leaving this note, it might be useful.

When we decide without measuring, we always end up in the same place. This is my opinion I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

Yes that's exactly how it is with stationery inventory management. Mistakes made on the stationery inventory management side are usually reversible but expensive.

Just leaving this note, it might be useful.

I felt relieved reading this answer so its not just me. like a small market isnt bad; working cheaply in a small market is.

When you try to change everything at once nothing settles. If I were you I'd go this route.
