We used outsourcing, then opened our own factory — was it worth it?

At first, outsourcing + low cost but quality issues. In the 2nd year I said let's start our own production. We opened a factory (500k).

In-house production: high cost but ensures control + quality. Profitable in the long run costly in the short term.

Sorry, but this doesn't apply in every case. Extending terms makes customers happy but turns you into a financing institution.

When making a decision, first look at what data you have on hand. I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

Let me share what happened to me; it might be useful. Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix.

If I were you, I'd go this route.

There's a common mistake people make when doing this. If the gap between accounts receivable and accounts payable turnover days is widening, revenue won't save you.

Of course, it varies if your situation is different.

I disagree with you on this point. If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.

The moment you depend on a single client, you no longer set the price. Good luck with that.

I have an objection here. Looking profitable on paper but having no cash in the bank is very common.

here's how it went for us. just because everyone does it doesn't mean it's right.

the answer varies greatly by industry; there is no one-size-fits-all rule but tbh if you post the result here it will help others too.

Let me share my experience. Everyone rushing into switching to in-house production gets stuck at the same point.

If I were you, I'd go this route.

There's a part I don't understand. Everything goes well for the first three months; problems arise in the fourth.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The most overlooked point about switching to in-house production is this: Mistaking revenue for cash is the most expensive illusion; trust the bank account.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I felt relieved reading this answer, so it's not just me. When you try to change everything at once, nothing settles.

Just leaving this note, it might be useful.

Here's how it went for us. Start with a small trial; don't commit to everything at once.

This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

I've been down this road, let me tell you. Hasty decisions become decisions you have to fix six months later.

Proven by experience.

It's rare to find an explanation this clear. Pausing growth to breathe is also a strategy, nobody says that.

Hope this helps.
