we made a page for the blakc friday event but will it 404 after the event ends? or should we keep it permanent?
opening a new page for the campaign ('black friday') — can i delete it after it ends or should i keep it permanent?
it's better not to delete past campaign pages. you can keep them as an archive. example: site.com/kampanya/siyah-cuma-2024 → site.com/arsiv/siyah-cuma. backlink value is preserved.

we deleted them at first... then links broke and traffic dropped. like we preferred to archive them
instead of deleting the campaign page, redirect to the main category with rel='canonical' or do a 301.
edit: I wrote something wrong above, sorry about that.

I felt relieved reading this answer so it's not just me. If rankings stay the same but clicks drop, the issue isn't your page but the search result appearance.
The real issue isn't the number, but what it's based on.
It's rare to find an explanation this clear. Any comment made without a control group is just a guess.
I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

I'm writing this so you don't make the same mistake. People defend habits not processes. Resistance comes from there.
Of course it varies if your situation is different.
If you're going this route, sort this out first. When we decide without measuring, we always end up in the same place.
Don't hesitate to ask; those who don't ask always pay more. If I were you, I'd go this route.
Good call starting this thread. like people defend habits not processes. Resistance comes from there.
Hope this helps.
We experienced almost the exact same thing last year. Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently.

theres also a measurement aspect to this. anyway if rankings stay the same but clicks drop the issue isnt your page but the search result appearance.
of course, it varies if your situation is different.

There's a common mistake people make when doing this. A page that answers one question works better than one touching on five topics.
The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.
Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. Speed is a threshold issue; if you're already fast, making it faster changes nothing.
If I were you, I'd go this route.

Do you think this works at any scale? Discussing numbers without verifying the measurement setup is a waste of time.
Hope this helps.

The most overlooked point about should campaign pages be permanent is this: Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix.
Merge instead of deleting; deleted content doesn't come back.
my perspective changed after experiencing that. a competitor's ranking might come from years of accumulation not just their content.
dont hesitate to ask; those who dont ask always pay more then thats all, sorry if I went on too long.
My question might sound amateurish, sorry about that. Merge instead of deleting; deleted content doesn't come back.
I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

We got stuck at the same point for a while. Hasty decisions become decisions you have to fix six months later.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
