investor called after 3 years. Gave 100k, wanted 10% equity. Company grew 5x. But I lost control.

Investment = growth + loss of control. If the value of 5x growth is more than 10% equity + loss of control, it's worth it.

Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. When making decisions, write down the worst-case scenario too, not just the best.

If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

Thanks for writing this that's the right way. The answer varies greatly by industry; there is no one-size-fits-all rule.

This is my opinion I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

Quick summary for newcomers: If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.

The reason for failure isn't one big mistake, but the accumulation of small decisions. If you post the result here, it will help others too.

Exactly, and not many people know this. Everything goes well for the first three months; problems arise in the fourth.

This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

I don't think this advice fits everyone. If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Let me summarize what's been said so far. Most time waste accumulates in tasks waiting for approval.

If you post the result here, it will help others too.

We need to make a distinction here. Second-time founders don't make the same mistakes but find new ones.

This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

Thanks a lot, I'll try it today. Pausing growth to breathe is also a strategy, nobody says that.

Good luck with that.

Let me summarize what's been said so far. The harder it is to reverse a decision, the slower you should make it.

That's all, sorry if I went on too long.

how did you solve this? like the biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.

of course it varies if your situation is different.

I have a question. People defend habits, not processes. Resistance comes from there.

The longer you delay cutting the team, the more people it affects. If you post the result here it will help others too.

I dont think this advice fits everyone. Dont hesitate to ask; those who dont ask always pay more.

Proven by experience.

You're right. The longer you delay cutting the team, the more people it affects.

Start with a small trial; don't commit to everything at once. Correct me if I'm wrong.

We've heard this a lot, but it never happened like that for us. People defend habits, not processes. Resistance comes from there.

great work.. and tbh hasty decisions become decisions you have to fix six months later.

if you post the result here it will help others too.

I'd say don't rush. Pausing growth to breathe is also a strategy, nobody says that.

I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

I feel the same way. Mistakes made on the getting first investment side are usually reversible but expensive.

Just leaving this note, it might be useful.
