How many blog posts per month, which day to publish, is planning this really that hard?

We decided to start writing blog posts but the planning part got messy. How many posts should we write per month? Which day of the week should we publish?

It's hard for me to dedicate someone at the company solely to blog writing. Can they handle it alongside their other tasks?

How important is consistency?

2-4 posts per month is ideal for starting out. Consistency is crucial — a weekly schedule with 2 well-executed posts is worth more than 8 posts a month.

Stick to a consistent schedule: Publish Monday mornings. Google might notice this routine and crawl more frequently.

The content calendar should be set a month in advance. Write down titles topics, and publish dates. Plan 2-4 weeks ahead.

we also do 2 posts a month, spaced out. the first month was tough but now it's routine... edit: if you skip consistency google ignores you too

Correction: I misremembered the figure, it was a bit lower.

Posting frequency contributes to ranking: Consistent updates boost Google's ranking of your posts. But post quality is key.

edit: fixed a few typos.

If we publish 1 post a month, will it catch Google's attention? Or is that too little?

Starter schedule: 2-3 posts a month (1 every 2 weeks). You can increase it later if you write more. Quality > Quantity.

I disagree with you on this point. A competitors ranking might come from years of accumulation, not just their content.

This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

Correct. The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.

If you're going this route, sort this out first. People defend habits, not processes. Resistance comes from there.

Most time waste accumulates in tasks waiting for approval. If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

I have no experience with content calendar, so I'm asking. A page that answers one question works better than one touching on five topics.

Just leaving this note it might be useful.

I was thinking the same thing. Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently.

I went through the same thing two years ago. Internal linking is the cheapest and most neglected task.

Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. Trying to do this alone is the most expensive way.

I partly agree, partly disagree. Discussing numbers without verifying the measurement setup is a waste of time.

If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. If rankings stay the same but clicks drop, the issue isn't your page, but the search result appearance.

The answer above hits the nail on the head. The answer varies greatly by industry; there is no one-size-fits-all rule.

I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

Generally correct, but one part is missing. Don't hesitate to ask; those who don't ask always pay more.
