I reduced night shifts to 2 hours by law at my security company — staff decreased but costs increased, how do I balance this?

I own a security company, I have 30 security guards, there are night shifts. A new law came out: 'night work is 6 hours, not 8 hours'. I'm doing the calculations: previously I had 1 person work 8 hours for 1 shift, now if it's 6 hours, 1 person needs to cover 1.3 shifts, meaning I need to hire more staff.

Now staff dropped from 30 to 25, but pay increased (night bonus increased). Result: same workload (spreading 30 hours over 25 people). To avoid telling my clients 'capacity decreased', I absorbed the cost. I'm at a loss of 200,000 TL this year.

If the law changed, should I tell my clients 'prices increased'? Or should I just absorb it? I couldn't decide and lost money. I found a legal consultant for this, they said 'if the law changed, you can notify the client and increase prices'. But I'm worried, will clients leave?

Standard method: Set a 'standard time' for each job, write this to the customer. Follow up.

Stats: Hiring staff bumps costs by 40%, but output can go up 60%. Net gain: +20%.

Don't overthink it. Is this really what it's like to be a small business owner? Like, what were you expecting?

Start with this structure: make sure the client understands 'this is how I'll do it,' then do it. That's the key to success.

Per regulations: your business needs to have these and those permits. Ask your accountant.

There is something to watch out for. Cutting your own salary is a temporary tactic; if it lasts more than six months, something will break.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks a lot, I'll try it today. When the closure decision was made is as decisive as the decision itself.

Let me clarify the technical side. If the gap between accounts receivable and accounts payable turnover days is widening, revenue won't save you.

If it's your first time, start small; scaling comes later. If I were you I'd go this route.

The discussion got scattered, let me summarize. Just because everyone does it doesn't mean it's right.

If you post the result here, it will help others too.

I agree. The moment you depend on a single client, you no longer set the price.

Same here. Extending terms makes customers happy but turns you into a financing institution.

That's all, sorry if I went on too long.

youre right and start with a small trial; dont commit to everything at once.

just leaving this note, it might be useful.

Let me write how it's done in practice. Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate.

Most time waste accumulates in tasks waiting for approval. That's all sorry if I went on too long.

I agree with this. Mistakes made on the security company worker side are usually reversible but expensive.

If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

I agree, and I'd like to emphasize that. If it's your first time, start small; scaling comes later.

Proven by experience.
