Ministry of Pharmacy sent a letter saying 'no online drug sales allowed', I have 10k TL in stock, what do I do?

i own a pharmacy, i have a branch in istanbul. when the pandemic started, i switched to online sales like everyone else, meaning i sell meds online. i have a private pharmacy license, an inspector came once and said 'ok this is fine'. so i kept going.

last week i got a letter from the ministry, official doc. it said 'online drug sales violate article 67 of the pharmacy regulation'. i couldn't believe my eyes. been selling like this for over 3 years, nobody said a word. is it suddenly banned now?

now i have 10k TL worth of stock in the pharmacy, all prepped for online sales. i took out loans to buy this stuff. and my customers act like online is the only option now. physical store isn't moving because people are stuck in the phone-click-pay habit. if online shuts down, i'm done for.

should i take this ministry letter seriously? honestly asking, are people really banning online pharmacy sales? and what do i do with this 10k stock? will it sell if i move it to the physical store? will customers come? i'm so confused. if anyone knows the legal side, please tell me, that's all i need.

The Ministry of Pharmacy's latest letter is definitive. Yes, prescription drugs cannot be sold online. However: if most of your goods are OTC, those can be sold (vitamins, bandages, disinfectants, etc.). You can return prescription drugs to the distributor, ask the Pharmacy Chamber for help. Don't try to cheat—high risk. Contact an accountant, these goods will be 'cancelled sales' for tax purposes, prepare the paperwork.

Online sales aren't defined in the physical regulation, but stop now and find a legal advisor. Tell the Pharmacy Chamber, ask if they can help with the transition. Get out legally, if you continue you'll get fined and lose your license.

The letter is official, stop immediately. The Ministry of Pharmacy is the authority and this legislation exists. What you can do: 1) Separate OTC goods and continue selling them online. 2) Return prescription drugs to the supplier. 3) Make a 6-8 week stock plan, increase physical store advertising. Win customers over with the message 'currently available only in physical store'. That's why i said find an accountant it's essential.

I don't know if this legislation letter is real or not. But things done in turkey can be completely different from what's written on paper. Take the letter, sit with the head of the Pharmacy Chamber ask 'what does this letter mean'. Probably a derivative letter or legally flawed. Hire a legal advisor it's not a waste of money it's an investment. Cheaper than losing goods.

Urgent: Separate OTC meds (vitamin C, bandages, ointments, etc), sell those online. Return prescription ones to the supplier, keep a loss record. Call customers i know who are doctors and pharmacists, send a message 'our offline store is also open, waiting for you'. Increase offline traffic within 4-5 weeks and close online.

I get that you're in a tough spot, but if there's an official ministry letter, ignoring it can even get your bank account frozen. Call a legal consultant (around 500 TL), show them the letter, and ask 'what should the transition plan look like'. Then take action. Minimize stock loss and definitely avoid any regulatory risk.

Generally correct, but one part is missing. Processes without records never improve because you don't know what to fix.

Most time waste accumulates in tasks waiting for approval. Just leaving this note, it might be useful.

Thanks for writing this, that's the right way. The answer varies greatly by industry; there is no one-size-fits-all rule.

The harder it is to reverse a decision the slower you should make it. Proven by experience.

I completely agree. When the closure decision was made is as decisive as the decision itself.

Pausing growth to breathe is also a strategy, nobody says that.

There's one point I'm curious about. The harder it is to reverse a decision, the slower you should make it.

Second-time founders don't make the same mistakes but find new ones. Of course, it varies if your situation is different.

We need to take it step by step. When the closure decision was made is as decisive as the decision itself.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

We've heard this a lot, but it never happened like that for us. Trying to do this alone is the most expensive way.

Of course, it varies if your situation is different.

I completely agree. Looking profitable on paper but having no cash in the bank is very common.

I agree and I'd like to emphasize that. Looking profitable on paper but having no cash in the bank is very common.

My perspective changed after experiencing that. The reason for failure isn't one big mistake, but the accumulation of small decisions.

Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate.
