i'm a bike mechanic in istanbul. demand is high, i need to repair 50 bikes a week but i'm stuck at 30. finding a master mechanic is impossible, they want 5 years experience. should i hire a beginner? won't a beginner mess up the repairs?

Legally speaking, you need a written contract with the client in this case. Terms must be clear. Advice: get a lawyer.

If you're struggling, ask another shop owner. They're your best guides. There's no magic bullet.

These questions are always the same: decide, do it, and either succeed or fail.

Urgent: stop work, replan, start over. Run a 3-week pilot, then decide.

From a management perspective: measure capacity, measure demand, if there's a gap find a partner or hire staff.

There are three things to check when doing this. Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently.

Mistaking revenue for cash is the most expensive illusion; trust the bank account. If I were you, I'd go this route.

I was thinking the same thing. honestly the first thing to break as you grow is communication, not the numbers.

Good luck with that.

Three different views emerged, they all complement each other. The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.

Looking profitable on paper but having no cash in the bank is very common. If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

I have no experience with bike mechanic, so I'm asking. Delaying bad news is the habit that causes the most losses in this job.

If you post the result here, it will help others too.

You're right, I've been down that road too. Solutions that work at a small scale collapse when you grow; I learned this late.

Could you elaborate on that? Mistaking revenue for cash is the most expensive illusion; trust the bank account.

Don't hesitate to ask; those who don't ask always pay more. If I were you, I'd go this route.

Let me summarize what's been said so far. Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix.

I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

It's rare to find an explanation this clear.

the most overlooked point abotu bike mechanic is this: If its your first time, start small; scaling comes later.

start with a small trial; dont commit to everything at once. im also curious if anyone does it differently.

let me summarize what's been said so far. anyawy the moment you depend on a single client, you no longer set the price.

of course it varies if your situation is different.

Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. honestly if you don't write this down from the start it leads to arguments later.

Trying to do this alone is the most expensive way. I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.
