I've worked in both areas: sales/business development, and partially technical. I want to start a B2B software venture. The model is: offering an API-based service, middleware that integrates with customers. I can manage the customer side, I'm looking for a technical partner.

Looking for: CTO level, 3+ years backend experience, or previous startup experience. You pay with equity, and I cover my own expenses from the revenue coming from customers. I have a financial plan, but I can't be alone on the technical side.

Interested developers can PM me or reply in this forum. Working in Ankara or remotely is possible.

developers looking for partners are a bit suspicious at first, because many entrepreneurs say 'you write the code I'll sell' but the developer often sees they don't actually help. my advice to you: write a formal co-founder agreement, include a vessting clause specify how much time each person will work... yours looks serious but put it in writing.

your side looks solid but let me say from a developer's perspective: someone looking for a developer partner is usually either very ambitious (but naive), or left their old job and wants to make money. the developer needs to understand which one it is and what i mean is: even if you seem like a very serious person, the developer friend will see the risk. open up the equity split.

API-based service is a good model. Is customer integration easy? What's the pricing model (per transaction, subscription, hybrid)? The CTO will inevitably need to decide on this. What's the tech stack? Prepare answers to these questions, ask them in interviews.

A question for you: what did you do on the 'customer side' in your previous B2B software job? Did you find demo customers were you able to sell the product to them? Because those questions matter to a technical partner they don't give away equity for nothing.

B2B is a long game and selling is super hard. The co-founder you give equity to might ask 'why should I work this hard?'. My advice: find the first 5-10 customers yourself (via demo, MVP), then bring in the technical co-founder. That way your offer becomes more attractive.

B2B software partnerships either go really well or end with both sides asking 'why am I working this hard?'. :) Don't invest without a written contract; once the brotherly vibe is gone, everything's over.

Let me write how it's done in practice. When listing, put proof that the product actually works at the very top.

If I were you, I'd go this route.

The answer above hits the nail on the head. The harder it is to reverse a decision, the slower you should make it.

That's all, sorry if I went on too long.

Saved... honestly start with a small trial; don't commit to everything at once.

Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate.

I felt relieved reading this answer, so it's not just me. The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.

Just leaving this note, it might be useful.

Let me clarify the technical side. Most time waste accumulates in tasks waiting for approval.

If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

I'd say don't rush. If IP assignment to the company isn't written from the start, it can't be collected later.

When making a decision, first look at what data you have on hand.

I partly agree, partly disagree. Don't hesitate to ask; those who don't ask always pay more.

Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate. This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

Do you think this works at any scale? Just because everyone does it doesn't mean it's right.

That's all, sorry if I went on too long.

I agree and I'd like to emphasize that. If you're offering equity instead of salary, also state what you're offering in return.

If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.

Here's how it went for us. The only thing separating friendship from partnership is a written contract.

If you have questions, write them; I'll answer as best I can.
