I got the agency's monthly report, it says 'our traffic is 7000 visitors' but I see 5000 in Google Analytics. What's going on?
Is the report inflated or are there filters in GA? How can I check?

The most common reason for a discrepancy between the report and Analytics: tracking differences. The agency report might count bot traffic, filter human traffic, etc. Analytics might count differently.
Check steps: 1) Make sure the tracking period for Analytics and the agency is the same (date range). 2) Check if there are filters in GA (admin > filters). 3) Ask the agency: 'Are you including bot traffic?'. 4) To see bot traffic in GA: Admin > View Settings > Is Bot Filtering on?
Other places to suspect: 1) UTM parameters (campaign tracking). 2) Is cross-domain tracking missing? 3) Are social media platform analytics being used embedded? Still, trust the main report.
I had the same issue... I mean i asked the agency, they said: 'You turned off bot traffic in GA we count it as on'... Then when I turned off GA bot filtering the numbers matched.

a little difference between GA and the report is normal. go into the tool, check admin and verify bot filtering.
Reasons for Traffic Discrepancy: - Bot filtering (GA: ON vs. Report: OFF) - Date range (report vs. GA) - View filter (GA segment vs. full) - UTM tracking (campaign traffic only) - Cross-domain tracking - Session timeout differences
Check the discrepancy: 1) Open GA Admin. 2) View Settings. 3) Is 'Exclude all hits from known bots and spiders' ON? 4) If it's off, don't turn it on. 5) Ask the agency: are they counting bot traffic? 6) Once the month closes, the numbers should match.

We need to make a distinction here. Access credentials should be opened in the company's name, not personal accounts.

Generally correct, but one part is missing. People defend habits, not processes. Resistance comes from there.
Trying to do this alone is the most expensive way.
Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. Payment schedules should be tied to project phases, not calendar dates.
Hope this helps.
Thanks, this was very helpful. If scope grows, either time or budget must grow. There is no third option.
Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix. If you post the result here, it will help others too.
There's a part I don't understand. When we decide without measuring, we always end up in the same place.

My question might sound amateurish, sorry about that. Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently.
Payment schedules should be tied to project phases, not calendar dates. Proven by experience.
I disagree with you on this point. Access credentials should be opened in the company's name, not personal accounts.
Thanks for posting. The real issue isn't the number but what it's based on.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks a lot I'll try it today. If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.
Solutions that work at a small scale collapse when you grow; I learned this late. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Let me summarize the topic, since several different answers were given. When you try to change everything at once, nothing settles.
I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

If you're going this route, sort this out first. If you don't write this down from the start, it leads to arguments later.
This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.
Quick summary for newcomers: People defend habits, not processes. Resistance comes from there.
If I were you, I'd go this route.
