Where should I start with a 300 Euro budget for Facebook Meta ads, and what should I look out for?

We run a small studio around Paris making handmade ceramics and custom gift items. Up until now, our sales came mostly through local design markets, word of mouth, and studio visits. Last month we launched our French e-commerce site, and now we want to bring in steady orders from digital channels too. I set aside a 300 Euro budget from our cash flow for an initial test.

I've never run paid promo through social media dashboards before. When I opened the Ads Manager, I saw dozens of different campaign objectives, bidding strategies, and audience targeting options. Honestly, I'm worried about picking an objective blindly and burning through this money in a few days without seeing any return.

As a business setting up a facebook meta ad campaign for the first time, how many days should I spread this 300 Euro budget over? Which campaign objective should I pick initially, and what key metrics should I watch in the first two weeks to decide whether to keep going?

Short answer: When starting with a 300 Euro budget instead of spending it all quickly, you should set up a 30-day testing plan at 10 Euro a day. In the first phase, choose the website conversions objective to drive direct sales and use Ads Manager instead of the boost post button.

Splitting your budget into two parts makes sense early on. Put 7 Euro of your daily budget into a conversions campaign that clearly showcases your ceramic products and leads directly to the product page. Allocate the remaining 3 Euro to a retargeting ad set aimed at people who visited your profile or checked out products on your site. The boost post button only gathers likes and comments; those interactions don't turn into direct orders.

Leave the system alone for the first two weeks and avoid tweaking settings constantly. There are three key metrics you need to watch: click-through rate, cost per link click, and add-to-carts on your website. If your CTR is low, your creative isn't grabbing attention. If visitors land on the site but aren't adding to cart, take a look at pricing, shipping costs, or page load speeds. Review these indicators after every 50 Euro spent pause the underperforming creative, and test a fresh one.

The biggest beginner mistake is checking the dashboard daily and pausing and restarting the ad just because results haven't rolled in yet. It takes time for the algorithm to find the right buyers in your target audience. Cap your budget daily and don't touch the campaign for the first five days, no matter what the numbers look like.

definitely do not touch that boost post button. tbh blew 100 euros that way on my first try and just got likes from random profiles, zero orders... setting conversions in ads manager is a must.

edit: fixed a few typos.

Last month we started with 300 Euro for our boutique in Lyon. Putting in 10 Euro a day, we brought 410 visitors to our site over 30 days. We got 9 orders from those clicks and broke even on our spend. Cost per click was 0.90 Euro the first week, but once we simplified the copy in week two, it dropped to 0.65 Euro.

300 Euro is a pretty tight budget for the French e-commerce market. Testing broad audiences and getting statistically sound data might be tough with that amount. If your average order value is high, your budget will burn through in a few clicks before the system learns who to target. I'd suggest focusing that budget entirely on one specific product group.

Don't just drop a single image into the ad set and call it a day. Add three variations under the same budget: 1) A video of the product being made in the studio, 2) A photo of it styled in a home setting, 3) A clean product shot clearly showing price and shipping perks. The system will funnel the budget to whichever one gets cheaper clicks.

Are your tracking pixels and conversion events set up properly on the site? If add-to-cart and purchase events aren't firing accurately, Ads Manager can't tell which ad drove the sale, and you won't know where your money is actually going.

Your hand genuinely shakes the first time you hit publish on an ad, thats completely normal. Take small steps; as long as you lock in a daily budget you wont get any surprise bills. Once a few orders start trickling in, those confusing dashboard charts will make a lot more sense.

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. Speed is a threshold issue; if you're already fast, making it faster changes nothing.

Processes without records never improve, because you don't know what to fix. If I were you, I'd go this route.

To get into the details: The answer varies greatly by industry; there is no one-size-fits-all rule.

This is my opinion, I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

The discussion got scattered, let me summarize. If it's your first time, start small; scaling comes later.

Don't hesitate to ask; those who don't ask always pay more. If you post the result here, it will help others too.

I didn't know that. When making decisions, write down the worst-case scenario too, not just the best.

I'm also curious if anyone does it differently.

Theres a common mistake people make when doing this. The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.

I have a question. Trying to do this alone is the most expensive way.

Good luck with that.

i went through the same thing then start with a small trial; don't commit to everything at once.

a competitors ranking might come from years of accumulation, not just their content. btw im also curious if anyone does it differently.

I can't fully agree with this. Merge instead of deleting; deleted content doesn't come back.

Hope this helps.

To get into the details: Updating an existing page yields faster results than creating a new one.
