They keep showing us landing page examples but they all look identical to me — what should I look for when picking a design?

We run a commercial cleaning and office maintenance business in Madrid. We hired a local agency to launch a digital ad campaign and paid 1.400 EUR for the design package. Earlier this week, they sent over three different landing page mockups for us to review.

The problem is, looking at the three drafts, I honestly can't tell the difference. One has the image on the right, the other on the left; the text boxes are shifted around slightly, but they all look like they came from the exact same cookie-cutter template. The agency claims each one targets a distinct user psychology.

I'm not a designer, so I don't want to get into subjective aesthetic debates. What should I actually be looking for in a landing page sample regarding form placement, trust badges, or offer clarity? How do I pick the right layout without falling for meaningless visual eye candy?

Short answer: When evaluating a landing page example, ignore the styling templates and focus on the information hierarchy—does it let the user understand what they're getting within five seconds? A strong landing page doesn't rely on visual flair; it relies on a laser-focused call to action and credible social proof.

Run the designs through three core filters: 1) Above the fold, is your core value prop obvious in a single sentence, and will prospects instantly know what they get by submitting the form? 2) Have all distractions—main navigation menus, external links, irrelevant secondary buttons—been stripped out across the entire page? 3) Are client logos, guarantee terms and clear service steps laid out cleanly without overwhelming corporate prospects?

Agency templates look great before real copy goes in, but they often fall apart with actual content. Tell the agency to ditch the Lorem Ipsum and present the drafts populated with your actual cleaning offer and form fields. Having form fields that are effortless to tap on mobile and placing a secondary CTA button at the very bottom of the page matter ten times more than whether an image sits on the left or the right. Also, check the page load speed before signing off; a flashy page that takes over three seconds to load is just burning your ad spend.

Quick sanity test you can run right now: open the page on your phone, scroll for three seconds, and close it. If all you remember is a generic stock photo of an office, kill the design immediately. If you walk away remembering "same-day corporate cleaning quotes in Madrid," you're on the right track.

We split-tested two concepts for a similar campaign last year. One had all the bells and whistles, the other was just a punchy headline and a 4-field lead form. The stripped-down version converted clicks from our ad spend at a 22% higher completion rate. Focus on cutting down form fields, not pretty graphics.

Did the agency build these drafts around where your traffic is actually coming from? Someone clicking a Google search ad wants an instant solution; someone coming from social media needs far more convincing. Have you asked which ad channel each of these mockups was designed for?

When agencies pitch "three different concepts," it's usually just the exact same template with the palette tweaked. Don't fall for the psychology talk. What really counts is having conversion tracking wired up right on the back end and a page load under two seconds; layout details are secondary.

we spent hours staring blankly at the dsigns our agency sent for our first page too but ended up grabbing our newest hire showed it to them for a second, and asked what we were selling... blank stare. we gutted the fluff blew up the size of the "Request a Quote" button, and that fixed it... don't overthink it tbh.

agencies usually just chase flashy stuff they can show off in their portfolio. youre selling corporate office cleaning the client just needs trust and guaranteed invoicing. just make sure your logo insurance certificate and a one-click call button are clearly visible and youre good, visual effects are a waste of money.

In the commercial cleaning industry, the decision maker is typically the office manager or the procurement officer. This demographic focuses directly on cost, official insurance coverage, and operating hours. When selecting templates, it will be advantageous to prioritize the at-a-glance readability of this specific information.

Let me speak from the other side; I'm on the supplier side. The biggest time-waster for us was not knowing who had the final say.

If you post the result here, it will help others too.

Quick summary for newcomers: Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently.

Let's separate the concepts they're getting mixed up. When making a decision, first look at what data you have on hand.

There is something to watch out for. Hasty decisions become decisions you have to fix six months later.

That's all sorry if I went on too long.

Thanks for writing this that's the right way. If you don't write this down from the start it leads to arguments later.

Start with a small trial; don't commit to everything at once. Just leaving this note, it might be useful.

I have a question... If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.

I agree with this. Payment schedules should be tied to project phases, not calendar dates.

Everyone rushing into landing page examples gets stuck at the same point. Hope this helps.
