We run a commercial cleaning and facility management company in Riyadh, and we want to build a customer portal and mobile-friendly web app where clients can request quotes and track service status. In their proposal, a local digital agency we've been talking to split the design phase into two separate invoices: they're asking 22,000 SAR for User Experience Design and 28,000 SAR for User Interface Design.
A total of 50,000 SAR just for design feels pretty steep for a mid-sized business like ours. Their account manager claims that if we only do UI without UX, the system will be unusable, and if we do UX without UI, there won't be any visual design at all.
To us, it feels like they're just repackaging the same scope under two different names to double-dip. Are these two disciplines really that distinct and budgeted completely independently? With a limited budget, isn't it possible to cut one of these line items or bundle them under a single sensible package?
