should we set up a dual-signature rule for payments? above what amount? or is it too hard to track?

we have 2 people in a small food business: an accountant and a manager. we want to set up a control mechanism for payments. above what amount should it require approval from both? wouldn't this management be too difficult?

can we set up a dual-signature rule at the bank? or is a written protocol enough?

will the first month be hard, or will it become routine later?

a payment approval system provides financial control. for small businesses, dual approval for amounts of 5,000 TL and above is sufficient.

banks have a 'dual signature' option — if 2 people approve every payment, the bank level is secured. but keep the protocol in writing.

it's hard at first but they get used to it after 1 month. the process speeds up.

payment approval system: - 0-5000: accountant - 5000+: accountant + manager - 50000+: manager + owner - payments should be documented in writing - weekly reports should be prepared

dual control configuration in the banking system: an SMS code must be approved by 2 people for every transfer. this reduces the risk of attacks.

if you set the limit too high oversight becomes ineffective. 5000 tl is a good threshold, test it

what if there's a secret agreement between the manager and the accountant? will both approvals still go through?

a payment control system is also designed to prevent internal fraud. risk decreases, trust increases.

To get into the details: Most time waste accumulates in tasks waiting for approval.

That's all, sorry if I went on too long.

I feel the same way. Any unwritten clause becomes a point of disagreement later, as both sides remember it differently.

Weve heard this a lot, but it never happened like that for us... Your time to detect an issue directly determines its cost.

Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate. tbh just leaving this note it might be useful.

I've been down this road let me tell you. The real issue isn't the number, but what it's based on.

Don't hesitate to ask; those who don't ask always pay more. Just leaving this note, it might be useful.

I have a question, don't want to go off-topic though. Don't rely on a single measure; go layer by layer.

I'm a small business let me explain from my side. If you scold false alarms nobody will report again.

If 2FA is on a stolen password alone is useless. This is my opinion I'm not claiming it's absolute truth.

I've been dealing with this for a long time. If you get three different answers on a topic, the question was asked wrong.

Good luck with that.

If you're going this route, sort this out first. Taking notes for two weeks yields better results than a six-month estimate.
