We are a 15-person B2C e-commerce company holding the names, phone numbers, addresses, and order histories of roughly 40,000 retail customers in our system. Our company lawyer handles updating our website's standard terms, distance sales agreements, and privacy notices. But last week, an outside consulting firm pitched us an end-to-end KVKK compliance package with a one-time project fee of 80,000 TL.
When I consulted our company lawyer, they told me frankly: "I can draft the legal texts, but technical safeguards, the data inventory, and cybersecurity require distinct expertise; I cannot manage the technical side alone." The consultancy, on the other hand, claims their team includes both IT attorneys and systems auditors who can deliver a turnkey setup covering everything from VERBİS registration to logging standards.
What exactly does this KVKK consulting entail, and what tangible deliverables do we actually receive at the end? What is it specifically that our corporate counsel cannot handle? Do we have to allocate budget to both sides, or is there a more balanced way to resolve this?
